14 July 2016
The 2016 Defence Support Industry Awards were launched by the Minister for Defence Industries on 1 June 2016. The awards recognise local businesses that work hard to support the Army, Navy and Air Force in the Northern Territory.
Defence is a major contributor to the Northern Australian economy and will play a key role in the growth of industry and the economy over the next decade. The annual Northern Territory Defence Support Industry Awards recognise the outstanding achievements made in our local Defence Support industry. The awards are designed to enhance the winners’ reputation amongst industry peers locally and nationally, as a business that has made an outstanding achievement in helping to grow this important sector.
The Northern Territory Government is sponsoring the Minister’s Award for Excellence in the Defence Support Industry. This award recognises the best overall contribution to the NT defence support industry. The winner of this award will receive a prize of up to $5000 to contribute to further business development opportunities and a framed certificate. The awards will be presented at the Australian Industry and Defence Network-NT Gala Dinner which coincides with the Northern Australia Defence Summit (19-20 October 2016). Businesses may self-nominate or be nominated by another business or individual.
Nominees must be small or medium businesses resident in the Northern Territory and engaged in work for the Department of Defence or one of its Defence contractors. Nominees must have worked within the Defence Support industry for at least two years, however the awards panel does has some discretion in relation to this requirement.
Entries close on 30 September 2016.
